8 TIPS TO MAKE YOU A BETTER MUSLIM THIS COMING RAMADAN AND BEYOND

Ramadan is derived from the Arabic term Ramad meaning to burn.

It is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar where muslims dedicate themselves in an intensive act of worship.

Muslims observe Sawm (fasting) from dawn to dusk (Sahuur to Iftaar).

This noble month is an opportunity for Muslims to draw themselves closer to ALLAH in order to benefit from His endless mercies, forgiveness and blessings.

I have eight tips to share with you which I hope will make me us better Muslims. Please join me to make this year’s Ramadan a turning point in our lives.

EATING BEFORE IFTAAR.

Iftaar is the time of breaking ones fast. Anyone that deliberately eats before this time (dusk) has invalidated his or her Fast. Let’s try to break our fast the manner the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) broke his fast by eating an odd amount of date from 1,3,5 etc.

LIES

Telling lies is haram even if you are joking. This is an opportunity to work on letting go this bad attitude. I always say Ramadan is a month of therapy. Where one strives to bring out the good in them. Some people cannot speak without telling one or two lies. Let us use this month to remind ourselves that telling lies is a major sin and That, ALLAH has warned us to desist from it. Avoiding the act of telling lies in Ramadan will have a long term impact in our lives.

BACKBITING

Backbiting has become the norm of many Muslims. It is Haram to gossip about anybody be it a Muslim or non Muslim. The Prophet (pbuh) once said to Imam Ali. O Ali! When someone hears the backbiting of his Muslim brother committed in his presence, yet he does not rally to his assistance despite being capable of doing so, Allah shall humiliate him in the world and in the Hereafter.
Let use this coming month to change!

THAWBAH(REPENTANCE)

Allah loves those who costantly ask for forgiveness. No matter how huge you think your sins are Allah will forgive you if you sincerely ask for forgiveness and promise never to commit such sin again. Allah says in Surah Az zumar verses 53-54: “O my servants who have transgressed against themselves (by sinning),do not despair of the mercy of Allah. In deed Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.”

SALAAT (PRAYERS)

One cannot be a true Muslim if he does not observe the daily Salaat. There are a lot of Muslims who do not perform salaat and it is a big problem. If you happen to be one of those here’s a helpful way to take you out of this lazy act. Use this coming month as a challenge to conquer that laziness. You cannot establish salaat by a snap of a finger but rather believing in yourself and taking one step at a time. Joining the congressional prayer is a way to improve your salaat, by the end of the 30 days you’ll see a great improvement.

KINDESS

Being kind is one of the core principles of Islam. It feels good to be kind. Let us try to show kindess to people around us. At our work places, homes, spouses, children, neighbors, animals and even our environment.

READING THE QUR’AN AND OTHER ISLAMIC TEXTS.

Majority of us cannot remember the last time we read our qur’an. It is never too late to start now! It is not only about completing the qur’an in Ramadan. Even if you cannot complete the entire qur’an, let’s use this coming month to develop a habit of constantly reading and knowing the meaning of the qur’an. Hadiths and other Islamic texts serves as an additional guide. I will be reading this month, join the challenge!

MODESTY

This coming month should be able to bring out a positive change within you. Try as much as possible to be modest in your lifestyle. From the way you dress, speak, and your general character.

Indulging in doing wrong nullifies your fast. Let us join hands to make this year’s Ramadan a successful one in our lives.

Stylish Muslim Network wishes you all Ramadan Mubarak!❤❤ May Allah grant us long lives to witness this coming Ramadan and subsequent ones.
